PSBT Scholarship Award

Assisting Students in Achieving their Academic Goals

The PSBT Scholarship Award supports 10 graduating high school seniors by easing the financial burden of higher education. Applicants are evaluated on academic excellence, leadership, community involvement, and financial need. Recipients receive a grant for tuition, books, or other expenses at an accredited institution. This program reflects Peoples Security Bank & Trust's commitment to community development and empowering future leaders.

Application Period

All 2026 scholarship applications are due March 1st, 2026 at 11:59 PM.

Selection Criteria

Demonstrate commitment to community service.
Provide a well written essay.
- Topic for this year's essay: You’ve been asked to design a banking app for young adults. What unique features would you include, and how would it encourage smart financial habits?
Exhibit academic achievement.
Have a financial need.

Award recipients will be selected and notified in April 2026.

The following criteria must be met for an individual to be considered for the scholarship:

The student must be a senior graduating from high school.
The student must be pursuing a secondary education.
The student must either be:
- A direct customer of Peoples Security Bank and Trust Company; or
  - Have a parent or guardian who is a customer of Peoples Security Bank and Trust.

Preference, in the following order, will be shown to students who:

Demonstrate commitment to community service.
Provide a well-written essay.
Have high academic achievement.
At least one (1) reference.
Have a demonstrated financial need based on income and household size.
Specific preference for those within the low (80%) income limit as calculated by HUD.
