Peoples Security Bank & Trust Co. recently presented the Greater Scranton YMCA with a $6,000 check to support the Y's Summer Learning Loss Prevention Program and the Y's 3rd Grade Swim Program.

Since summer is synonymous with swim season, the Y encourages families to explore the benefits of swimming while also keeping safety top of mind. Through the 3rd Grade Swim Program, the Y is proud to offer a free session of swim lessons to all 3rd graders in our service area.

Peoples Security Bank supports West Ward Community Initiative

May 2, 2019

Peoples Security Bank & Trust was recently contributed to the West Ward Community Initiative. This initiative, funded through a Neighborhood Assistance Tax Credit Program, will provide a total of $1.2 million over the next six years for the revitalization of Easton’s West Ward.

Neal Koplin, Executive Vice President/Lehigh Valley Regional President, said his father’s family was from the West Ward, and he views this as an opportunity to develop partnerships with the community.

“I like those types of partnerships and for our bankers to get involved,” Koplin said.

For the first year of this project, goals include creating programs and activities for young people, launching a neighborhood newspaper, and helping improve building facades. Long term plans call for the conversion of a paved lot to be converted to St. Anthony’s Square, a West Ward Community Plaza.

Koplin said he was impressed by the city’s resurgence when asked why the bank would chose to sponsor an Easton project, and he’d like to see that extend into surrounding neighborhoods.

“You have to think more regionally today. I have a broader view of the cities in the Lehigh Valley and I want to support everyone, whether it’s what we do in Allentown, Bethlehem, or Easton.”
